The University of Alabama’s Internal-Combustion Engine and Combustion laboratories, led by faculty with broad experience in academia and industry, have worked with local and national institutions (NASA, Caterpillar, Harley-Davidson, etc.) on combustion issues and engine research for many years. Combined with the Electromechanical Systems Laboratories in the electrical and computer engineering department, the University has therefore in place a premier team and environment to develop new, alternative powertrains, from alternative combustion processes to hybrid systems.
